Seethadevi Lava Kusa Temple

Seethadevi Lava Kusa Temple near Pulpally is one of the few temples in Kerala dedicated to the goddess Seetha, consort of Lord Rama.

The temple also has idols of Lava and Kusa -the children of the couple. It is believed that Sage Valmiki provided the goddess with shelter when she was abandoned by Lord Rama. The story goes that the goddess disappeared into the earth here. The temple was built in the 18th century during the days of Pazhassi Raja under whose management the temple functioned for many years. It later came into the hands of the Kuppathode family. The temple is now managed by the Malabar Devaswom Board with a member of the Kuppathode family holding the position of trustee.
